Phase 12 of the Surrey Research Park will be owned by the University of Surrey. The tenants for Buildings A & B will be Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd (SSTL). SSTL are involved in the research, development and manufacture of small satellites. Building A will primarily be used as office accommodation whilst building B will be used for light engineering manufacture of satellites and will comprise of clean rooms, laboratories and offices. It will be a two storey building comprising a north and south wing arranged in an open ‘V’.

The clean rooms are designed to ISO Class 6 standard and comprise two main areas:

1) The High Bay area on the ground floor north wing
2) Flight Assembly area on the first floor north wing

The services are designed to permit future flexibility for the workspace, e.g. clean room area may be decommissioned for use as general laboratories and offices. A significant feature of building B will be the array of satellite dishes mounted in the centre and at each end of the roof. SSTL will be manufacturing, assembling and testing their satellites in building B before they are crated up and taken to the Plesetsk Cosmodrom, part of the Russian State programme, for launching into Geo-stationary orbit to perform their various tasks.
