BELGRAVE HOUSE GRANTED PLANNING PERMISSION

Appointed by Legal & General, Lewis & Hickey were tasked with developing designs to convert a disused office building within the heart of Northampton into much-needed student accommodation.

Situated above the Grosvenor Shopping Centre, Belgrave House has been vacant for four years, having previously been used as premium office accommodation.

The proposed scheme converts Belgrave House to include nearly 250 student bedrooms arranged in both cluster flats and studio units, as well as associated communal facilities on the first floor. A new entrance and two additional lifts are proposed at the western end of the building to allow pedestrian access from the adjacent market place which links into the lower ground floor.

Alongside the conversion of the interior spaces, it is proposed that the elevation is rejuvenated with new windows to meet current standards and guidelines, which will brighten the existing concrete façade with a series of colours across the window frames.
