Restoration
Lewis & Hickey were employed by the New Cavendish Estates on the conversion of this listed country estate building to residential apartments. The building, a former gate house with wings around an internal courtyard, was converted in 8 months from a near ruinous condition. Continual discourse with English Heritage was maintained at all times and successful negotiations were held to allow new walls, plumbing, gas and electrical service installations. Two new staircases were inserted into the corners to allow the division into flats. All staircases and internal walls were designed to be removable as part of the listing reinstatement agreement.
