Retirement & Nursing

Lewis & Hickey Architecture and Interiors were very pleased to have had the opportunity to work with the Elizabeth Finn Trust both as architects and designers.

Eversfield House is a late Victorian building set within extensive re-landscaped grounds that surround the building on all sides. The Trust asked us to look at extending the building to accommodate 32 residents within a comfortable and homely atmosphere and with easy access and views to the gardens from all parts of the house.

Our aim was to design a building that complemented the existing without detracting from it. This demanded a sensitive approach that allowed the old and new to sit side by side comfortably avoiding the need for pastiche architecture. L&H worked closely with English Heritage and the local conservation officers to ensure a successful outcome. The project was shortlisted for a heritage award.
