Urban Regeneration

Lewis & Hickey?s vision for the circa £100 million mix-use redevelopment of the south coast town of Bognor Regis includes a new theatre, cinemas, shops, 20 & 12 storey residential 'gateway' towers, affordable housing, health centre and offices. The proposals for the two landmark seafront locations form the start of the Local Authority's regeneration of several key Bognor Regis sites and would be the biggest construction project in the region?s history. Working with low carbon design consultants XCO2, the scheme utilises the coastal wind for power generation via its architectural wind turbines. These turbines are integrated into the design and fitted with LED lights on the wing tips that light up to form dynamic hologram images after sundown. As well as adding visual impact to the design the turbines also form part of the environmental proposals that aim to establish Bognor Regis as a beacon for sustainable development on the south coast.

The design concept draws on the movement of the sea and wind as a metaphor and will establish two key focal points on the Bognor skyline and seafront. It also responds to its local environment using local materials and retaining a sense of context within its surroundings.

Two Sites: One Vision

The 'Two Sites: One Vision' proposal will create two landmark buildings which will revitalise the waterfront and enhance the perception of Bognor Regis as a place to live, work and visit.
